Advice on XML View Layout requested...

Hi All,

While I'd love to stick with the common scenarios that Fiori encourages, we're developing a large "app" that has some very specific UI requirements, that make it quite unique; however I'm trying to keep it as stock standard UI5 as possible. Hence, I have a question on how people might solve a particular UI design I need to implement...

So what does it look like without giving any company details away. Glad you asked:

There's actually more to it that that but I've reduced the screen to more of what the problem is.  What you are seeing is a list of results as a carousel (on the right), and filter values (on the left) that line up with each value in the carousel "Tile" that you can type into to reduce the result list even further.

I've been working on this today, and getting various degrees of success, but nothing I'm really happy with. The big issue is really getting the fields on the far left, with the labels, aligned perfectly with themselves, and then aligning with the results of the Tiles.  I can fix minor alignment with CSS if required.

But that leads me to my question:

Any thoughts on how you would put this together?

My current approach involves using a grid (or Splitter) with a dynamic size for the carousel and fixed size for the filter (I did notice the fixflex in the beta OpenUI5 but not really an option to explore Beta at this point of time); creating a new UI5 control for the left hand panel to hold the inputs (effectively a blank sap.m.Panel), then using a Carousel with a new custom control Tile and then use lining everything up in the custom controls through CSS.

Any better ideas?

Cheers,

Matt
